Privacy Policy
Introduction
rootshell is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our terminal emulator application.
Information We Collect
rootshell is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal data necessary for the app to function:
- Local Data: Your SSH connections, credentials, and terminal settings are stored locally on your device using the system keychain and Secure Enclave.
- Cloud Provider Credentials: When you connect cloud provider accounts (AWS, Azure, Linode, Digital Ocean), authentication tokens are stored securely in your device's keychain.
- No Analytics: We do not collect usage analytics, crash reports, or any behavioral data.
Data Storage and Security
All sensitive data is stored using Apple's security frameworks:
- SSH keys and passwords are stored in the system Keychain
- Private keys leverage the Secure Enclave where available
- No data is transmitted to our servers
- All SSH connections use industry-standard encryption
Third-Party Services
rootshell connects directly to third-party services you configure:
- SSH servers you specify
- Kubernetes clusters you configure
- Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Linode, Digital Ocean)
These connections are made directly from your device to the service. We do not proxy or intercept any of this traffic.
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Delete the app to remove all associated data
- Manage keychain items through iOS/macOS Settings
- Export or delete individual connections within the app
